ANCESTRAL PATTERNS
Some of the patterns we experience in our lives may have roots that go back generations.
The way we relate, the fears we carry, the beliefs we develop, our sense of belonging, and even some of our strengths can sometimes be better understood when we broaden our perspective and look at the family system we come from.
Ángel Primal’s Ancestral Healing Workshops offer a space to explore these patterns through Family Constellations, Personal Constellations, Primal Therapy, and Emotional Architecture.
The purpose is not to assume that everything comes from our ancestors, but to observe what appears, investigate its meaning, and discover what we want to carry forward and what we may be ready to experience differently.
The question is:
WHAT FROM MY FAMILY HISTORY MAY STILL BE PARTICIPATING IN MY EXPERIENCE TODAY?
And perhaps an even more important one:
WHAT DO I WANT TO DO WITH IT NOW?
WE DON’T ONLY RECEIVE DIFFICULT PATTERNS
When we look at our family history, we may encounter pain, fears, beliefs, adaptations, silences, losses, or ways of relating that seem to repeat.
But that is only part of the picture.
Our family line may also connect us with strength, creativity, resilience, knowledge, abilities, sensitivity, courage, and resources.
Ancestral exploration is not only about looking at what hurts.
It is also about recognizing what supports us.
WHAT DO I WANT TO KEEP?
WHAT DO I WANT TO DEVELOP?
AND WHAT NO LONGER NEEDS TO ORGANIZE MY LIFE?
WHAT DO WE MEAN BY ANCESTRAL HEALING?
Rather than beginning with the assumption that a present difficulty was caused by the past, we begin with observation.
We explore the person’s present experience and, when relevant, broaden the perspective toward their family system and history.
We may encounter:
REPEATING PATTERNS · BELIEFS · FEARS · LOYALTIES · ADAPTATIONS · SILENCES · LOSSES · STRENGTHS · RESOURCES
But we do not decide beforehand what they mean.
We investigate.
THE MAP GUIDES.
THE PERSON REVEALS THE MEANING.
WHAT REPEATS MAY BE WORTH EXPLORING
A painful experience can influence how a person sees themselves, other people, relationships, and life.
Those ways of responding can also influence relationships within a family and the environment in which later generations grow up.
Sometimes we recognize striking repetitions.
Sometimes we discover connections we had never considered.
The purpose is not to prove that the past is causing the present.
The purpose is to expand our field of observation.
Because when we can see our experience more clearly, another possibility appears:
CHOICE.
MANY LIVES CAME BEFORE OURS
2 PARENTS
4 GRANDPARENTS
8 GREAT-GRANDPARENTS
16 SECOND GREAT-GRANDPARENTS
32 THIRD GREAT-GRANDPARENTS
… AND SO ON
Behind each generation were relationships, decisions, losses, encounters, separations, strengths, fears, possibilities, and experiences we may know very little about.
All of those lives belong to the history that came before us.
But their history does not have to become our destiny.
OBSERVE WHAT CONTINUES
Ancestral exploration invites us to become curious about what may be repeating without immediately deciding why.
We can ask:
WHAT KEEPS APPEARING IN MY LIFE?
WHEN DID THIS PATTERN BEGIN FOR ME?
DO I RECOGNIZE SOMETHING SIMILAR IN MY FAMILY?
WHAT DOES THIS EXPERIENCE MEAN TO ME?
WHAT AM I TRYING TO PROTECT, PRESERVE, OR AVOID?
WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I RESPONDED DIFFERENTLY?
The answer may lead toward our family history.
Or toward our own life story.
Or somewhere we had not expected.
EXPLORE YOUR FAMILY SYSTEM
Through Family Constellations, we can create a representation of the system and observe what appears.
We do not begin by looking for a predetermined family story.
We begin with:
POSITION · DISTANCE · ORIENTATION · GAZE · TENSION · MOVEMENT
We place.
We observe.
We investigate.
And only then, when the process supports it, we test a movement and observe again.
A PHRASE IS NOT A TRUTH WE INTRODUCE INTO THE FIELD.
IT IS A MOVEMENT WE CAN TEST AND THEN OBSERVE THE RESPONSE.
EXPLORE YOUR OWN LIFE STORY
Through Personal Constellations, different ages or stages of our own life can also be represented.
Rather than assuming that one particular age contains the origin of the problem, we observe what appears between them.
CHILD · ADOLESCENT · YOUNG ADULT · ADULT
Which stage responds?
Which one turns away?
Which one moves closer?
What sensation appears?
What emotion?
What meaning?
The constellation does not give us a predetermined answer.
It gives us something to investigate.
EXPLORE THE EMOTIONAL ARCHITECTURE
Through Emotional Architecture and the AE-7 Model, we can investigate the structure beneath a recurring experience:
BEHAVIOR → STRATEGY → EMOTION → FEAR → MEANING → PRISON → ESSENTIAL ROOT
Instead of asking only:
“WHY DO I DO THIS?”
we can also ask:
WHAT WOULD HAVE TO BE TRUE FOR THIS STRATEGY TO MAKE SENSE?
The behavior is not the root.
The strategy is not the root.
They are clues that can help us investigate more deeply.
DISCOVER WHAT YOU WANT TO CARRY FORWARD
Exploring our ancestry does not mean rejecting our family.
Nor does it mean remaining loyal to every pattern that came before us.
We can recognize what belongs to our history while discovering how we want to live now.
We may choose to strengthen what nourishes us.
We may question what limits us.
And we may discover new ways of responding.
SEE → DIFFERENTIATE → QUESTION → FEEL → REGAIN THE CAPACITY TO CHOOSE → ACT DIFFERENTLY → CREATE A NEW EXPERIENCE.
BEGIN YOUR ANCESTRAL EXPLORATION
Look at what came before you.
Observe what may still be participating in your experience.
Recognize the strengths and resources that are also part of your history.
Question what you no longer need to repeat.
And discover what becomes possible when the past is no longer the only reference for the present.
